Around the world, Twitter and Facebook are among the most used social networks. They have benefitted many people because they make communication easy and instant. We can communicate with both friends and unknown people around the world.
It must be mentioned that both social networks have turned around communications and they both mean a great advance for humans. But they have differences and similarities which make them better and worse for users. Which one has the most users?
Which is faster? Which is more helpful to post an event? We will try to answer these questions. We will explain their similarities and differences, and the reason why they are so welcome by internet users all over the world.
Twitter was created in 2006, which makes it younger than Facebook, which was created in 2004. Twitter users can follow current events closely, and they can read comments from interesting people like sports people, singers, artists, etc.
An example of this is what happened in Copa América 2011. Diego Lugano, Uruguay’s team captain, posted on his Twitter account all the experiences and emotions of his champion team. Ricky Martin declared he was homosexual on Twitter.
Thus, Twitter is considered more than a social network; it is more like a credible instant information community. As for its number of users, Twitter now has around 300 million, far from Facebook’s 600 million.
Despite that, Twitter is the preferred cyber place for adults, because on Twitter they get very important information about general interest news. Learn more about Twitter at www.twitter.com.
Facebook was created in 2004, which makes it the first social network, and maybe that is why it has more users than Twitter (approximately double as much). On Facebook we can see messages and share them, as well as photos and videos.
There is also a chat where we can talk with our friends. It is different from Twitter because most young people are Facebook users. We can advertise events on Facebook and get invitations from your friends.
We can use the “like”. button and grade the contents of a message, a photograph or a video as nice. Facebook is easier to use and it helps to make groups or communities with similar preferences, make any kind of advertisements and have a good time will using the many available applications.
Unlike Twitter, Facebook allows more than 140 characters when posting messages on your friends’ walls, but like Twitter, Facebook can be used from a mobile phone. Learn more about Facebook at www.facebook.com.
